How to install IPTV on Android TV: 11 steps

1. Confirm the system on your TV or box

   Open Settings and look for Google TV or Android TV on the About page. Sony, TCL and Hisense have shipped Google TV on many recent sets. If the screen names Tizen, webOS or Roku instead, switch to the guide for that platform. Uncertified boxes running phone Android often hide TV apps in the store, which causes trouble later.

2. Check what resolution the device outputs

   Most Google TV devices list their output under Settings, Display & Sound, Advanced display settings. Streamers such as the Google TV Streamer, the onn 4K Pro and the Shield stop at 4K. A built-in Google TV on an 8K television can go further, but only when the player app and the stream both support 8K playback.

3. Open Google Play from the Apps tab

   On Google TV, choose Apps along the top of the home screen, then Search for apps. Older Android TV menus show a Google Play Store tile instead. Let any pending system and store updates finish before you install players. Current builds avoid most failed downloads and keep video playback stable.

4. Install TiViMate, or sideload Smarters

   Search for TiViMate IPTV Player and check the developer name before pressing Install. For IPTV Smarters Pro, which Google Play did not carry when we looked in September 2026, install Downloader from the store. Allow it under Settings, Apps, Security & restrictions, Unknown sources, then enter the link Glomax8k support sends you.

5. Add the Glomax8k playlist with Xtream

   In TiViMate, choose Add playlist, then Xtream Codes. Smarters labels the same route Login with Xtream Codes API. Fill in the server URL with http:// and the port, then the username and password. Read each field back against WhatsApp before confirming, because remote keyboards invite small slips.

6. Name the playlist and wait for the first load

   Call the playlist Glomax8k so it is easy to spot later. The first sync pulls channel groups, the program guide and on-demand titles, which can take up to two minutes on a slower box. Recent TiViMate builds ask whether to include movies and series. Tick it if you want the 120,000+ titles inside the same app.

7. Tidy the global channel groups

   With 25,000+ channels across 60+ countries, hiding groups makes the guide far quicker to scroll. In TiViMate, open Settings, Playlists, pick Glomax8k and open Manage groups, where you can hide a package or drag it higher. Put your household regions first, for example US networks, then UK channels, then a Latin American or Arabic group.

8. Turn on frame rate matching

   On Google TV, open Settings, Display & Sound and enable Match content frame rate; some devices also offer a dynamic range match on the same page. In TiViMate, enable Auto frame rate under Settings, Playback. Sports at 50 frames and films at 24 then play at their native pace instead of being forced to 60 Hz.

9. Pick the right video decoder

   TiViMate and Smarters both let you choose hardware or software decoding in their playback settings. Hardware decoding hands HEVC 4K to the video chip, which keeps motion smooth and the box cool. Switch to software only for a single stream that plays sound without a picture, then switch back afterward.

10. Set the clock so listings read correctly

    Guide times follow the device clock. On Google TV, check Settings, System, Date & time and make sure the time zone is right or set automatically. A bulletin airing at 9 p.m. in Madrid should then show as 3 p.m. for a viewer in New York. Use EPG Timeshift in the player only for a group that stays off.

11. Choose subtitles, audio and a PIN

    During playback, open the player overlay to reach subtitle and audio tracks; in TiViMate a long press on OK does it. Channels from abroad sometimes carry a second language track, so it is worth a look. For children, Smarters has a PIN under Settings, Parental Control, and TiViMate Premium offers a similar lock.

Fixing common Android TV problems

TiViMate is missing from Google Play

The device is likely running phone Android rather than certified Android TV, so the store hides TV apps. Downloader can still install the player, exactly as it does on a Firestick. Treat that box with care, because uncertified hardware rarely receives security or codec updates, and 4K playback can suffer.

The guide is blank after signing in

A slow box may need several minutes for the first guide download. Wait, then trigger Update EPG from the player settings. With an Xtream login, the guide link travels with your account, so there is nothing extra to paste. Should a player ask for its own EPG URL, Glomax8k support can send one on WhatsApp.

4K streams buffer at peak hours

Each 4K stream needs about 25 Mbps held steadily, and evening Wi-Fi congestion is the usual cause of stalls. Plug in Ethernet, or move the box onto the 5 GHz band. Close background apps on boxes with 2 GB of memory. If it still stalls, choose the FHD copy of the channel for that evening.

Pans and fast action look jerky

Your box is likely pinned to 60 Hz, while many broadcasts arrive at 25 or 50 frames. Switch on Match content frame rate on the Display & Sound page, together with Auto frame rate inside TiViMate. A brief black flash as a channel opens is the TV changing mode, which means the setting is doing its job.

HDR looks gray or too dark

Some boxes force HDR on everything, which makes regular HD channels look flat and gray. Set the dynamic range option to match content, if your device offers it, so HDR only switches on for HDR streams. Then check the TV picture mode and try a Movie or Filmmaker preset for evening viewing.

Hidden groups reappear

Removing and re-adding the playlist makes TiViMate treat it as new, which resets every hidden group. Edit the existing playlist instead of rebuilding it. When a package gets renamed on the server, hiding the new name a single time keeps it out of view.

Two screens keep cutting each other off

Each plan sets how many screens can stream together. With the 1-device plan, pressing play on a phone knocks the TV off. Exit the player on one of them and give the old session about a minute to clear. If two rooms watch every evening, the 2-device plan lets both play side by side.
