How to install IPTV on LG Smart TV: 10 steps

1. Read the webOS version on the TV

   Open Settings, then the support or TV information page, and note the webOS number. Version 3.0 or newer runs current players well. Older NetCast sets only manage a dated Smart IPTV build, and a streamer on HDMI gives a far better result on those. While you are there, note whether the panel is 4K or 8K.

2. Open Apps and sign in

   Tap the Home button, then open Apps, a tile that older firmware labels LG Content Store. Sign in to your LG account first. Creating that account on a phone spares you entering an email letter by letter on screen. Then select the search icon at the top of the store.

3. Install IPTV Smarters Pro or Smart IPTV

4. Enter the Glomax8k details

   In Smarters, pick Login with Xtream Codes API and copy in the three details from your WhatsApp chat: server URL, username, password. Smart IPTV has no login form. Note the MAC address it displays, open siptv.app/mylist on a phone, add the MAC and your M3U link, tick Detect EPG and submit. Reopen the app to load the list.

5. Browse with the pointer

   Aim the Magic Remote at a channel group and roll the wheel to scroll, which beats pressing Down hundreds of times. Click to play, or point at search when you already know what you want. Most outside players ignore the number keys, so favorites become your quickest shortcut.

6. Match the clock to where you live

   Every listing is timed by the TV clock. Newer sets, from webOS 6 onward, keep it under All Settings, General, System, Time & Date, while earlier releases list Time & Date straight under General. Keep automatic time on and confirm the zone. A program from Paris at 9 p.m. then appears at 3 p.m. for a viewer in New York.

7. Choose a picture mode made for streaming

   Open the quick settings, select Picture Mode and try Cinema or Filmmaker Mode for films and series. Standard suits daytime viewing in a bright room. Avoid Vivid, which sharpens compression artifacts in streamed video. On OLED models, set brightness for the room first, then leave most other controls at their defaults.

8. Wire the TV for 4K or 8K sources

   Nearly every LG set has an Ethernet port at the back, and wired Ethernet keeps a 4K stream far steadier than the internal wireless chip. A 4K stream needs about 25 Mbps. An 8K source on an LG 8K set needs roughly 50 to 100 Mbps and a player able to decode it. Where either is missing, pick the 4K or FHD copy instead.

9. Turn on subtitles or a second language

   Clicking the picture while it plays brings up the player controls, where you choose subtitle or audio tracks the stream carries. International channels sometimes include a second language. LG keeps broadcast captions under All Settings, General, Accessibility, but IPTV players normally rely on their own menu.

10. Add a PIN for younger viewers

    In Smarters, open Settings, Parental Control, choose a four-digit PIN and tick the groups to hide. Hidden groups stay out of sight until someone enters the code. A second Smarters user whose favorites list holds only kids channels keeps the TV simple for children and quick for adults.

Fixing common LG Smart TV problems

Sound plays but the screen stays black

The decoder is struggling with that stream. In the player settings, switch the player type or decoder, starting with the native option. A 4K channel that stays dark on an older LG chip often plays in its FHD copy. If every channel behaves this way, update the player from the store first.

The store shows no IPTV players

The LG store follows the country set in the TV settings. Make sure the region matches where you live, then search again. If nothing appears, ask Glomax8k support on WhatsApp which player works for your webOS version, or add a streamer on HDMI.

The playlist disappears after a restart

Some webOS versions clear app data when storage fills up. Clear out apps you never open and log back in. With Smart IPTV, ticking Save online at siptv.app/mylist keeps the list on the developer server instead of inside the TV.

Check Time & Date first. If the clock is right but a single country group is off, open EPG Timeshift in the player, where available, and move it one hour at a time. Recheck after the clocks change in spring and fall.

An 8K set shows the picture in 4K

Most channels are 4K, FHD or HD at the source, and the TV upscales them. True 8K sources are rare. When one is available, it still needs a player that decodes 8K on webOS and roughly 50 to 100 Mbps. If any link is missing, the player falls back to 4K.
